I decided to convert my rarely used Raptor .60 (like 5 flights) to a Raptor .90, I picked up the Raptor .60 without any electronics. Here is what I believe is needed to convert the Raptor .60 to a Raptor .90 with the 8.27 gear ratio, am I missing anything?

TTR3822 Raptor 80/90 Conversion Kit - Already Have

11-tooth pinion
heavy duty clutch
heavy duty bell
long tail boom (408mm not 418mm :( )
long drive shaft
larger fuel tank
side frame stiffener (not needed as I have aluminum frames)

PV0298 Main Spur Gear 91T - Already Have

New Fan Shroud PV0412 - Ordered
New Servo Tray PV0413 - Ordered

Here is the setup so far that I will go with:

Radix YB690 Mains
Radix YB105 Tails
TT Red Paddles - Already Have
Fromeco Peerless Lithium Ion 4800mah (or should I get a 2400mah)
Arizona Regulator
Futaba GY611 Gyro w/S9256 servo
Aerospire Multigov for the governor
O.S. .91 SZ-H Ring PS-Hyper (18400) - Already Have

Here is what I need help to decide on:

Servo choice for Throttle, Collective and Cyclics. (Futaba, JR, Airtronics or ACE and which models)
Here's what I was thinking: Cyclics - Futaba S9451's and Collective Futaba S9351 but which throttle? Note I will be using 6 volts on this Heli.

Hatori SB-18 FH, Muscle Pipe 2 or Muscle Pipe 5

At some point I will upgrade to a Metal Head, Mixer Arms, Washout and Flybar Cage. I will probably et the Metal Head right away.

Another good question that comes to mind: Should I replace the stock swash to an all metal swash immediately or do you think I should wait until my skill grows some more as I am only at loops, rolls and some inverted hovering.

Any help with completing the choices here would be great.

For servos I got the Futaba S9451's for throttle, ailerons and elevator, for collective I got the Futaba S9351.

Gyro is the Futaba GY611 servo combo

For pipe I got the Curtis Youngblood MP5

For Blades I went with Radix 690's and 105's

Governor is Aerospire MultiGov

Arizona Regulator with Pin Switch and a Fromeco Peerless 4800 Lit ION.

Then I also picked up these TT Metal Parts, Head w/button, Cage, Mixing Levers, Washout and Full Metal Swash.

After reading the review on the Spektrum DX7 DSM2, in the latest RC Heli Magazine (issue #9) I decided that I would buy one. I am waiting on these parts to complete the Heli. I received the Radix Mains and Tails today. I have been using the Radix tails (92mm) on my Raptor 50 and love them.

Is the 50 in the pic the 30 that you converted?

The 50 is the one on the right (I know its obvious) but that is the one that I converted from a 30. And the 90 on the left is the one I converted from a 60.

Work has kept me busy along with the transfer of the site. I managed to squeeze in a little time to mount the TT Metal Fan, Governor Magnet, sensor and the clutch to the engine. I also mounted the engine to the Heli. I also mounted the Curtis Youngblood MP5 and its header.

I also mounted and aligned the TT Red Paddles. Here's a couple pics.

She is coming along beautifully, there certainly is a lot of work in these machines, But I think that is 1/2 the fun :)
Cheers Ralph
BTW I did my intro on your site today, I will drop in from time to time, all the best with both your heli/site they are going great!!

Here's what I've done tonight. I mounted the custom glow adapter that Heli-J (a buddy of mines on the HeliRaptor forums) and I have come up with on our 50's. We decided to start making them for our 90's.

It's made from off the shelf parts that can be bought at radio shack. It consists of some wire, a toggle switch and a Rechargeable Duracell NiCd (2650 mah) that can be bought 4 in a pack at WalMart for $10.00.

No more worrying about carrying a glow charger or igniter. This is completely self contained and is set to charge via standard connectors.

Well I just finished the build. All I have left is to set the linkages and program the TX.

Here's the finished image.

One question that keeps coming up in email and PM's is how much will she weigh.

Answer: 11 lbs 7 ounces

It appears to be nicely balanced as well.

Here is the finished bird. I only need to finish programing the Spektrum DX7.

I took her out on Sunday, March 4, 2007. It turned out that my stater would not start this engine (I suspected so). A few people recommended to try a cordless drill, which I had all charged and with me. The drill started it right up with little issue.

I ran it really rich on the 1st 2 tanks of fuel and started moving the needles in slowly to start tuning it a bit. I put 4 tanks through and the needles have a little more to go before she is ready to do some FFF.

I must say the setup was near perfect. No field adjustments other than needles have been made yet. The tail has a slight shake, but that is normal for an engine that is not tuned properly. I will get it tuned and then play with the Gain if need be.

This machine has so much power and hovers rock solid in the wind. I was impressed with how stable it was.

Setup on the DX7 was perfect and the machine tracked beautifully. More to come on my next trip out.
