I prefer NP 1st and EP 2nd.

Nitro is much more realistic, sight sound, and power.

Electric is easy, just plug in and fly. Electrics give me the feeling I'm flying a vacuum cleaner around the sky. lol

I like EP because it's cleaner I like the idea of more power in a Nitro but hate the exhuast.

On a large scale you have a great looking Heli with smoke trails and the engine just about drowns out the blades thumping.

Turbines sound realistic but cost is HIGH. But for large scale and extra jack like a lotto win or something I would definately do Turbines.

electric right now, easy, quiet, clean and cheap
that's not to say in the future I don't turn to the oily side :D

The fuelwash from the exhaust doesn't bother me. I clean my heli after every session and that helps with preventative maintenance. I have a bad habit with electrics to fly and recharge and fly... and so on, until something lets go, then kablap.

I agree on the lotto win. I'd have one of everything and no money left. LoL
Maybe someday I'll get lotto luck.

Awesome vapo, let the transformation begin.
My Trex isn't all that quiet, between the brushless motor with its whine and the blades slapping the air around makes for a pleasant noise to my ears. ;)

I fly a nitro now but is also looking for a 450 size electric to fly around my yard and not disturb the neighbors. They both have their ups and downs so the best choice is to have one of each.

Where's the choice for GAS in that poll?¿? :D

Just kidding, I just like my gasser, too.

Sorry td, I'd say gas is in the same lines as nitro, they're both liquid fuel. I like your gasser as well.
How can you go wrong with gas, its much cheaper than nitro.

This is pathetic, out of 79 views only 9 of us are flying electric or nitro.

I don't understand why one would click on a thread and not vote. Must be internet pervs.

rotflmao.... We all know who flies and who doesn't. :D

It's rather difficult for me to make a real preference vote, since all I've flown so far is a small electric a few times. Electric does have some definite advantages, including being quieter normally than a nitro engine, not having issues with starting and tuning the engine, clean, rechargable batteries tend to be economical to use, etc.

I do see some of the advantages of nitro power, too, though. Being able to refuel at the flying site, rather than having to recharge the batteries at an electrical source, getting a lot of power out of an engine without having to couple a large electric motor to a correspondingly large battery (yeah, you probably want a decent size fuel tank to have decent length flights, but a fuel tank can be tailored to fit a given space rather than having to tailor the space to fit the battery pack).

I'm not sure if the day will come when I step up to a nitro-powered heli. I do think I will step up to a larger and more versatile electric sometime when I'm more experienced in heli flying. I do admire some of those nitro-powered scale models, though...

Nitro power for me. I just can not see spending $300 on a batter pack to get 6 minutes of flight time with the 600 size electrics.

For the smaller heli's the batteries do not break the bank, and flight times are a little longer, so electric is the way to go.

I just like finishing a flight with my rap 50 adding more fuel and going again. :D

At least 3 of those views are yours because after the initial post, you posted three more times including this one... Many people, including myself, look at a topic quite often so that might have upped the views.

Now I'm seeing 197th view right now and my 4th reply. You mean to tell me you clicked on this thread over twenty times. LoL :)

The electrics have it so far. Two more days for the poll to end.

Nitro here.

I like em both. But Nitro takes the cake. Nothing like smelling Nitro in the morning after breakfast.

Right now it's electric. But at the rate I'm going...eventually I will have a nitro....oh yes I will have a nitro. It was the same way with my trucks. Did I read that someone thinks that this an addictive sport? :o

I have both nitro and electric. Right now I am spending more time with the electric. The main reason is flying anywhere and only have a little time. Years ago I used to have the time to spend the entire day flying. Now if I am lucky just a 1/2 hour. Both have their pro and cons. If I was going to fly scale, then nitro, otherwise for the simplicity electric.
