I have been out of the sport for the last 12 years. I retrieved my Scout 60, Kalt Cyclone 60 and bought an electric Exceed-RC Eagle 50 3D. The Exceed-RC Eagle 50 has been a great little heli while I have been getting my other ones flight ready. What I am noticing is that there is a large push towards the electric heli. I am happy to see that this magazine is around with some information. I have a lot to catch up on. Is there anywhere that describes what Mini, 400 or 500 electric helis are? I also see a lot on the higher end helis, but have not seen much on the lessor known ones. With 3 kids and only one income, these not-so-named-brand RC helis are not covered anywhere. Searching the internet usually brings you to a place where people have had problems and discussed. Has anyone have any comment on the Exceed-RC Raptor G2? There are a lot of helis that range between $125 to $300 with everything, including the radio systems. Is there going to be coverage in this area?
The raptor g2, if it's the heli I'm thinking of, is actually a recolored walkera 36. A decent heli in terms of the airframe, but you will, if you stay with it, end up replacing all of the electronics. I reccomend a reputable brand arf or kit and a set of electronics you can grow with. Right now I would highly reccomend the dx7 as your transmitter of choice with any of these little glitch monst.. err mini electric helicopters. A decent setup for most 400ish sized helis would be hs65 cyclic, futaba 240 or 401 gyro, a nice light speedy tail servo (I'm still just using a hs50) and the dx7 for glitch free flight. You should be able to use any of the esc and motor combos with this without fear of the dreaded tail belt induced glitching/motor induced glitching/glitch induced glitching....

Thanks. I am not too worried about electronics where I am., and with my eye sight, most of what I am going to be doing now is close in. The only thing I do worry about is servo failure. What I liked about Raptor G2 is the metal swash plate, metal blade holders, one way bearing for auto rotation, and the parts are not that expensive for crashes (which i expect many)
