I've had the align gyro on the CPP for a while now, love it, until today!
I was trying to land when the bird just went nuts, spinning one way then the other, needless to say it went in! not too hard, but hard enough.
I put new blades on, new tail rotor.
Now thinking it was a tail motor gone bad, I put a new one on.
Set it all up, and was hovering in the garage, no wind, but cold (50f ish)
All of a sudden of goes the damn tail again, I maganed to spin the trim right around to take it out of HH mode, which instantly stopped the spinning.
Bad gyro, or do they not like the cold, it never went from warm to cold, it lives out there :D

Hey,

I have had issues with the cold and my gyro ( not the same brand as yours ) - I've had it outside at around +6 C ( 43 F ), but it has never caused me grief while flying - ( I do let it adjust to the cold first )

if I happen to land and then power up again, it seems to fail, if I give it a shot with the rudder it seems to wake up again before take off - if that doesn't work, I unplug, replug the battery and all is good again, UNTIL I LAND,,,, ha.....

so - it is a fair guess that they really don't enjoy the cold - oh well, another couple of months and it will start to WARM UP I hope......

'till then, it's mostly G3 and my other little diversion ( PiccoZ ) :D

( it's times like this, that I think of Ralph and his bazillion degree flying weather :D :D )

I'm not sure how the align holds up to the cold, but the coldest I've used other gyros is in the 30's....maybe once in the 20's on a 401 for a short test flight.
I have read up on this in other forums and read that one guy left his heli out overnight in SUB-ZERO (farenheit) and tested it out. He said it worked fine. Although I wouldn't recommend it  .
In the manual for your gyro it should say the operating temperature range that the gyro is recommended for.

yeh, it's well within range for temps, it's as if the HH feature is twitchy. normal mode seemed ok, after my backside un-puckered
I may put the 401 on it, to make sure it's not a 3 in 1 issue.
