I fly about 50% of the time alone at many different locations including my club field and the other 50% is when other club members are present.

I flew one time alone and it was really boring for me. I enjoy the company and conversation that goes along with this hobby. The only thing I do alone is short test hovers in my back yard if I added or modified something on my heli.

I guess I should have added a Q about how far is your club?
I'd love to fly with others, but my nearest club is maybe an hour away, and for a few 10 minute flights, it's not worth the effort.
I would like to find a club, that just does electric heli's, at least we'd all know what we were talking about.
I used to fly planks back in the UK many moons ago, and yes, the flightline BS was always a joy to listen to,lol
I have a huge field out front where I fly, maybe I should start a club

The club site that i go to is about a hour away and they arnt to fond of people learning to fly helicopters so i end up off in a corner hovering by myself. Not too many other heli pilots either. Starting to try to find new places to fly even if it means flying alone.

There's a club a 40 min drive from me... so mostly I fly by myself.

It's generally more fun to fly with others, but by myself I don't have to be embarassed. :)

I found a club about an hours drive from me that has a lot of heli people. The closer one just has airplanes. I am completely self taught (read: crash$$$$) and I can hover and FF my CP and MX400 around my pasture and yard but I want someone to teach me the 3D moves with a buddy box so I am joining them in the spring. If I have my Raptor 50 by then.

But I to will be embarassed, I've seen these guys fly.....

One thing I've noticed about heli-only clubs is that MOST of the guys in the club are, or are very quickly becoming good 3D pilots much faster than mixed clubs or people that fly alone.
I am a member of a mixed club with great heli-plane relations because of the shape of our flightline. I didn't start even trying any 3D until I started making the rounds to fun-fly's....the rest of the heli flyers in my club are more or less sport pilots. The more heli pilots you have around you to "feed" off from, the more confidence you will gain and in a shorter time.

mostly by myself or with jen or justin but i am lucky
there are a lot of good pilots around here and everyweekend
that is nice they get together to fly or bs about flying at one particular shop.

as far as that being embarrased everyone started out in the same spot
if it was with a plane heli car whatever if you don,t know ask and if
some one makes you feel bad because of it fuc em you don't need em
I personally haven't had that i have yet to come across another heli person
not willing to give a few minutes and help out and i have had some
ridiculous ? at the beginning and still do. but i have yet to be turned around
and told no. ASK everyone needs a hand now and again.

just my thought

normaly alone in a park or with another friend. the problem with clubs are there seem to be so many rules they seem to be making it worse than the issues you have with the full size machine. however i bit my lip and joined a club a few days ago due to the people being such a good crowd and very friendly. I think it is probably a good idea to go check a few clubs out first before paying your sub. Tihis way if you are in with a good bunch of people you will relax while flying more.

I have a soccer field by my house that I fly at. Looking into joining a club, heard there is not too many heli fliers there. This is why I am still thinking about this.

That is what I need though to go to the next step. The "feeders" who will push and also tell you what you did wrong. I have two horse pastures (no horses yet) that I can hover and FF all day long but I need an experienced heli pilot to do the pushing.

Since I'm a real newbie, flying a small electric that cannot tolerate much of any wind at all, my flying so far has been at the indoor basketball court in the neighborhood rec center close to where I live (when the court isn't occupied by basketball players).

I need to find some other locations that would be good for flying. I wanted to fly yesterday afternoon, but the silly people were playing basketball again. Imagine that; using a perfectly good basketball court for BASKETBALL! The nerve!

:D

It's probably best that I fly alone for now, until my competence on control is sufficient that I won't cause problems for other fliers near me.

I do a lot of flying alone when practicing for contest season. Mostly after work at the club field, when no one is around. Occasionally a planker shows up, then I have to mind my Ps and Qs to share the runway and pattern with them. Easy to take turns with one or two other guys, though.

On the weekends, we have a fairly nice gang of heli pilots at my local club. Harder to get good contest practice, though.
