Check THIS (http://www.iconmicrodesigns.com/) out! I've got one on order. Includes new CF and aluminum frame, CF tail boom, aluminum tail gearbox etc.etc.etc. The price is insanely low for what you get! Uses many T-Rex tail parts. I also have a T-Rex so I already have all the parts needed.
His CF supply is back-ordered so I'll have to wait a bit but I think it'll be worth it. I'll be going brushless with a HH gyro. Won't be much original Blade left when it's done!

That is a sweet setup. There's no way you can call it a Blade after that. Can't say I would buy it over a Trex, but it is really nice.

Ain't that the truth.;)
This is basically my quest to build a living room sized T-Rex. It's too hard for me to get to the field to fly the T-Rex on any kind of a regular basis so I want something other than Reflex XTR to practice on at home. Hopefully this will be the ticket.

While I hate the basic Blade CP with a purple passion and want to see it die a horrible painful death I'm really looking forward to this build up. I've been ordering the best of everything I can for the build. About the only thing original will be the canopy. The main gear and shaft will be the auto rotate unit for a Century Hummingbird 3D Pro. The tail control linkage will be mostly T-Rex. The rotor head is all E-Sky Bell/Hiller. Blades are E-Sky. The Swashplate is the aluminum E-Flight part. I'll start with a Himax 2015-3600 brushless and go to a 4100 if the head speed is too low. It will have HS-55's all around. Maybe an HS-50 on the tail. Electron 6 RX, CC Phoenix Micro 10 ESC. CSM HLG 200 heading hold gyro. TP 3S 1320 Pro-Lite batteries. It should be a nice toy when it's done. It sounds like a ton of money going into it but I already have all the servos, motors, RX, ESC, batteries etc so I'm not really making a huge investment. The main airframe minus electrics should cost just over $100.00 to duplicate. Not a bad price. As soon as I get the belt drive kit I'll start a build thread. Hopefully Jim at IconMicrodesign's supplier will get the CF out to him soon so he can get my kit done soon. I haven't been this excited about a build in a long time!

Please do on the thread. I can't wait to see it!! I may order one too. especially if the parts are readily available.. At least the breakable ones.
On that website, has anybody found the "the belt drive tail conversion page" as mentioned on their FAQ page?

Go to the "products" page and the link is at the end of the paragraph.

I have a couple of HB 3D pro's I may have to order the kit and give one an overhaul. I was looking at a belt kit for $50.00 to convert my HB 3D to a belt rear. But this kit will get me the whole setup and a fancy new airframe for 20 more. I am gonna just get one of these. Right now it is a real bummer about carbon fiber. It seems there is a National shortage on the cloth. I hope they get it sorted out soon so we can get back to building cool parts.
I am a carbon fiber machinist. I own a company called Out Front Frames. The carbon shortage isn't going to get any better any time soon. With Boeing's new airplane and Irag sand repairs there seems to be nothing left for the small guys.. It has gotten so bad that an order we made before Thanksgiving still hasn't arrived yet..

I really didn't think Jim was BSing me about the CF problem but this just proves he was straight with me. Jeez, it may be a while before I get to try out his belt drive mod. The last shipment of bling goodies showed up today too. Dang, I'm looking forward to this belt drive setup. I guess I'll just have to put more miles on the T-Rex in the mean time.

Yea this carbon thing really is a bummer. It seems that the new F-22 Raptor jet is like 90% carbon fiber and they are building these planes as fast as they can. From what I have been reading this is the number 1 source that is soaking up the carbon with the Airbus plane following that up.
