I have one Trex now. I'd like two. How does the Caliber400XP stand up to the Trex?

I've not flown one but from the spread rchelimag did several issues back it's a good flying heli, the XP version does away with the z-bends and does a massive upgrade on the heli, not many pieces are the same as the 400. It has alot more aluminum then the original still has the thick carbon fiber sides and the bigger-then-trex tail boom. From what i've read about it it looks like a comparable trex would be about half way between the 450sa and the 450se. Here's Kyosho's site...
http://www.kyoshoamerica.com/helicopters/ep/20403B.asp
I've been considering it because I like being different, but I really would love to find a 450 size heli with a torque tube instead of a belt... These belt drive tails are like having a flying van de graf generator :D

Oh, another option, sorta diverging from your kyosho lineup, would be the Thunder Tiger Mini Titan e325 http://www.acehobby.com/ace/TTR4710_Mu.htm
It looks to be between 150-200 and has a nice low profile layout.

Hi everyone I hope you all had a Great Christmas :)
Well lets see!! I got
Align 325mm yellow carbons (prolly need some spares) lol
2 X Align caps
Align Radio Sling
A PicoZ (almost :o about that) but its
A set of wooden training gear from Model Tech-- (don't wanna write off T-Rex yet ;) )
That's about it for heli- stuff, I didn't get any $$$, but I did get a few cartons of beer!!!! (nice)
Cheers Ralph
BTW Hello phatchantz
I bet those elves were a bit cool
(so long as they weren't frozen) LOL

Hey Ralph,
Hope your havin' fun with that Picco :D - they are a "hand full" :) - Your Christmas was way ahead of mine - according to the time clock you guys are about 14 or so hours ahead of us, so yours was over and done with, before we even had the kick off.................
I'm jealous about the "beer" thing - doctor says "NO BEER" - ha - what does he know
I'll tell the elves you said "hello" :)

My fantastic wife got me a Tref 450 SA ARF (the already assembled body) and a Futaba 6EX-PCM remote!!! Woo Hoo!!!
I'm going to exchange the 6EX for the 6EXH helicopter version. I asked for the ARF version of the Trex because I'm new to heli's. I want to build my heli, but I didn't want to get a box of parts and then wonder if I crashed because I assembled the head incorrectly!
I figure I'll spend the winter selecting and installing the servos and electronics and be ready to fly by Spring. Any suggestions?

wow, that mini Titan E325 looks smooth, i might have to reconsider the trex for that.

Another thing I like about the Trex, when you buy parts, there are quite a few on the list that come in quantities{more than one}. Mainshaft for about 8 dollars and change. Align gives you three for the 8 dollar price.

My wife got me a FMA Direct 4S charger. Works much better and faster then my old Hobbico Field Charger, which took two hours to charge my 1800 and 2100 Lipos. The FMA takes about 45 minutes and you can do them warm.
Also got an FMA Co-Pilot. Anyone have any experience with these?

Thunder Power 11.1 V, 1320 mAH Li-Po battery
Craftsman air compressor
Craftsman circular saw
Logitech Harmony 670 remote
10 year-old bottle of bourbon - Eagle Rare, mmmmm
Pulled off my first hover, Xmas eve though
...and a job offer (not from my wife) :D

Very cool puppy...we have a 3-year old female black and tan Min Pin named Zoe. She's an awesome family dog, even with a 4-year old constantly pulling on her. Have fun with Pepper. :D

vapochilled,
Will let you know about the Co-Pilot. If the weather warms up a bit I can try it. Am installing it today. But it is about 30 F. here which is a may be a little cold for my MX400. It sounds kinda neat though and I cannot wait to try it.

I got 2 gallons of 15%, Mavrikk Deluxe crash kits (the one with the CF Blades) and some CF tail blades along with the CNC tail yoke. The more important thing is what didn't I get. I didn't get the G3.5 sim. Oh well.

Wow! someone who got less them me! Money has been real tight with our family losses this year(seemed like we lost someone every 3 months :( ), got a shirt and an electric blanket.... However dinner was fantastic! We had a two person ham... not as in only feeding two people, but as in it took 2 people to lug it from the car  (and we are STILL eating ham sandwiches!) Awsome desserts... and most importantly.. A cause for getting the family together

Got the FMA Direct Co-pilot installed on my MX Pro. Really designed for something a little bigger but moving things around a little I got it installed. The weather finally cleared up a bit yesterday for a few hours so I got two flights in. Still needs some tweaking but I must say it does what it says it should. After calibrating the co-pilot and taking the MX up about 30 feet and gave it a little left cyclic then let go of the stick. It returned to a level state and stayed there, almost. I had a breeze blowing it from the side and it kept correcting but through it all the heli stayed level. It will be good for practice, especially nose in. And I can shut it on and off from my JR6102 for emergency purposes.
Hopefully I might get a few more fly days before spring.
Keith
