i figured id introduce myself to the forum. my names julie (oviously) and im gonna be 22 in a few days. i was born in norway and moved to the states when i turned 13. im a pretty big fan of anything r/c, but more recently ive been bored with driving things, so i hadnt touched mine vehicles in awhile. that all changed one faithful afternoon when i was in a bookstore and i saw a mag called r/c heli. what caught my eye was that it was from the same guys who do xtreme rc cars. a favorite of mine. so i bought it and got "the bug" for flying. this was further influenced when i played the G3 simulator in a hobby shop and thought it was really cool. 3 months later i purchased a blade cp pro and ive been learning ever since. right before i got into helis, i was messing w/ r/c rock crawlers. i own a tamiiya txt-1 and a tlt-1 thats been half built into a scale crawler. i aslo own a hpi rally rs4 eletric and a team associated tc3. guess i like the cars more then the trucks. espically since i auto cross real cars on the weekends :D but anyway, ill end this before i start to babble. nice to be a member of this forum :D

Way to go TD. And these are the same guys complaining about the forums receiving porn spam. Anyone else see the dicodomy here?

P.S. Don't yell at me for any spelling errors. :D

OK - I spelled it wrong

A dichotomy is a division into two non-overlapping or mutually exclusive and jointly exhaustive parts. They are often contrasting and spoken of as "opposites".

See that - you learn something everyday!

i actually dont work at all lol. the most i do thats considered work is freelance writing for a sony psp site. ive done a few origial tutorials about modding the system, but other then that i dont have any knowledge of the position. now, being on one of those posters i get in XRC would be cool, only posing with a rc heli instead lol. nah... im too shy to do anything like that

Vapo, I take offense to your implication. Julie's knowledge of our two markets, RC cars and RC heli's makes her the perfect sales candidate. ;)

Julie, if you ever get the desire to grace our pages you let me know.

my theory is that the ass end of the cp is crap, therefore, i need a belt drive conversion lol

tail motors *panic and scream* I've had both a blade cp and a vnr3d and I completly dispise tail motors.... :)

My favorite micro so far has been the.. ok everyone laugh at me.. walkera 22a that I originally bought for $15 as a bare bones. I guess I would be happy with a real hornet 2 or newer, but this one works fine :)

Thats a good looking chop!! CLM :)
Lots of people bag Walkera, but my DF36 with a few hop-ups, like yours is a beauty,
I really enjoy flying her, I'm about to upgrade the servo's and gyro on her,
the same one's I took off my Rex, so we'll see how she goes after that.
Cheers Ralph

sounds like the belt drive conversion might be a good investment. i find the blade/gear connection on the CP to be pretty lame. espically that rubber piece thats suppose to keep it on the motor pin. the CP aslo lacks a tail fin so its not nearly as stable as it could be

You might consider instead of converting your helicopter into a form that's a conversion, picking up a helicopter with a belt or tail shaft driven tail. (I personally like tail shafts as they induce no static ;) )

E-sky has 2 shaft driven helicopters and a belt driven helicopter the belt cp is about $80ish without electronics http://www.twf-sz.com/english/index.asp

The Ms Composit line is a higher end line up and a bit more expensive. But you get a bit more quality wise http://www.mscompositusa.com A base X3D kit is about $100 They are however most all shft driven like my walkera on the previous page.

If you are set on a belt driven tail, get a belt cp and leave the blade as annoying as it ever was (and as easy to get parts for ;) )

I guess what I'm saying is, don't convert the blade and make it a helicopter that's hard/expensive to get parts for, for the same costs get another helicopter that is going to have inexpensive easy to get parts for about the same price.

Buy a Trex, you'll be much happier with its performance.

i like jobs where i have lil to no contact with customers besides a email or 2.

I agree...I work a job totally alone. It's not customer service, so even the people I meet don't need to be treated with kid gloves. Noone really understands what I do, so most of the time the only question I get is "What do you guys do?" I usually jokingly tell them I test & evaluate gas station restrooms and fountain drink dispensers! It's usually the only time I'm face-to-face with a person besides when I'm at a house or street working. I mark utility lines for a contract locating service. I don't even have to report to an office, I download my work at home and return right back home when it's done and I've been doing it a while, so the pay is pretty good for this area. I also make my own hours. There's no set time when I start and I can quit the day wenever I've got my workload under control, which is dictated by how many requests I receive, not by some jerk in a office deciding for me......and my winters are usually off!

I tend to agree with the others; leave your Blade the way it is, and get a proper belt-driven heli. One can NEVER have only one r/c heli anyway, so why fight it? Helicopters were once described as the crack cocaine of the radio control industry, and I have to agree with that. I am on my 5th one now, and shopping for a 6th - which is REALLY dumb because I have yet to learn how to fly the FIRST one.

Like many others, I was attracted to the sport by the Blade CP, and when I found it hard to learn on, I acquired a Blade CX. (Yeah, I know that's the wrong order, but lots of people ended up doing it that way.) When I read about the MX400 Pro and the Spektrum DX6 in the pages of RC Heli, I had to pick up both.

Somehow along the way, I got a durable little Honeybee FP that I fly in my bedroom after my wife has gone to work. (The last thing I need is bits of balsa and carbon fiber shredded throughout her underwear drawer!)

My Maxir flies nice too, but newbies and gear-driven tails do NOT go well together. The slightest tail touch and I end up replacing another tail pinion. D 'oh!

Now I am looking at the Belt CP. It is SO tempting. (Now all I have to do is learn how to FLY these things.) Thankfully, I may be pretty bored right now too, but I will soon be headed back to work ... and there is one thing I must say about my job - not only does it pay me money to support my heli habit, I also love it, and some days I think I must have the best job in the world.

Somebody once said that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.

(If you ask my wife, she will heartily agree. She would be glad to tell you "that lazy bum has never worked a day in his life!")

Now, back to shopping for my next heli ...

Chickenhawk is right, you can never have enough helis. I started with a Hummingbird Elite FP, never could get it to fly right so I bought a Blade CP the day after my LHS got them in. Much easier but it still took me a while to get it to hover. Then my wife got me an MX400 PRO for my birthday last year. That is what I spend most of my time and money on. Not knowing anything else but those two i must say i really like the MX. Which is close to the TREX. I'm hoping to have a Raptor 50 before the spring flying season though. So as everyone else says, save your money and buy another heli.
