Is it just me, or.....

I purchased the FS1, by Hanger 9, a couple of weeks ago, and I'm not real impressed with it helicopter wise. I bought the software/controller bundle thinking it would work better with it's own controller. I haven't tried the plank portion of the sim, but the heli portion leaves quite a bit to be desired. I tried flying a Blade CX and a Blade CP in all supplied varients, both of which I own, and the big gasser. The electrics do not respond like the real models, can't be trimmed out of the toilet bowl syndrome, nor brought to a decent hover, indoors or out.

The gasser flies like a large heli should, but can't be brought to a stable hover, and when it crashes it won't reset properly. I have to back out entirely and restart the program.

I've edited the transmitter for expo and response, but no real solution there. Has anyone else had any experience with this sim?? positive or otherwise?? I'm more electric oriented and want a sim that's "real world" with it's electric models, like to find one with Trex 450 and 600 on it.

comments please...

I have the Reflex XTR SIM....best investment I've made so far in the hobby. With this SIM, you have the ability to "create" your own heli (take photos of your own heli)......or download the numerous helis that are out there for FREE. I found the T-Rex 450 version, so I am no able to practice flying the SIM with a T-Rex model. You can even download for free new backgrounds from the Reflex website.

I have not been terribly impressed with FS1 either. I don't own it, but my LHS has it on display and I've played with it. Yes, the problem with the glow powered heli's re-setting is also a problem in it as well. For some odd reason, it won't spool up after a reset. I can't speak for how the CP handles on it, I only briefly tried it....from memory, the tail held as poorly as the one CP I had the pleasure of flying. The heli's also bounce like a big beach ball in a crash. The plane side is alright, the planes actually break apart in a crash. Some of the models don't seem as responsive as they should be.

I'll stick with the G3.5 ;)

Thanks for the replies, I've heard the Pheonix was a good sim for heli's, but I don't know anyone in the USA that handles it.

Maybe the FS1 models the CX before Eflite got the 4 in 1 problems sorted out, it may be more realistic than I realized LOL

thanks again,

jim

That was an odd thing - the answer is you have to hit the "J" key to restart the motor - not kidding. If a crash is bad enough to kill the motor, the sim actually kills the motor and you have to restart it by pressing J.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Thanks for letting me know that!
Isn't that what a reset does? R-E-S-E-T IT!!! Not reset and then press "J"!?!?!?!?!
What were they thinking when they put that little addition on it??? Next thing you know, they'll require you to plug your field box into a special controller on the computer so you can used your own starter and glow plug ignitor after a crash to restart it!

hmmm Sim engine tuning! Just think... you could have to spend sim dolars to repair your sim heli after the sim crash that happened because your sim tuning on your sim engine went out of sim wack and caused it to sim oferheat and sim seize! :D

I personally have Real Flight G3. Best investment I have made. I love it. You can edit planes/Helis. Fly with their controller, or connect you own. You can also download tons of planes/helis via the swap pages.
