CCPM (Collective/Cyclic Pitch Mixing) is a type of mixing that uses 3 servos around the swashplate of a heli and the radio mixes these 3 servos together to make the control movements. A standard mix head also uses 3 servos, but each is used for a specific task, one for collective (blade pitch up and down), one for ailerons (L-R Roll) and one for elevator (fore & aft roll, or pitch).

Many helicopters are available in either pitch configuration, CCPM is generally reguarded as the more precise and "slop-free" setup. I also agree with this, but for many beginners, setup of a standard mix heli is easier. There are many variables in the radio programming that make a CCPM more difficult and a few mechanical difficulties also.
