Well fellas I’m sorry to tell you about this!!!
However one of the Erickson Air Cranes (Malcom) that we lease from you during our bush fire seasons has been damaged during hover manoeuvres whilst drafting water to re-fill,
The pilot is ok!!! He managed to land the aircraft without sustaining any further damage to the aircraft, himself or anyone else, details are sketchy at this time, I believe he impacted with a large gumtree during this manoeuvre and damaged all 6 rotor blades, as more info- becomes available I will let you know, obviously the aircraft has been grounded and arrangements are in place to air freight replacement parts from the USA and repair the machine ASAP, this aircraft was on the Lithgow Lawson Alley fire in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney participating in property protection and fire containment operations. This fire has been running for almost two weeks now, the fire has destroyed some 13000 Ha now and is still uncontained at this time…..
Cheers Ralph…

Glad to hear the pilot is ok and no one got hurt.

Do only certain areas in Australia get hit with bush fires or is it pretty much everywhere and anywhere? I guess it's much like our east and west coast. East coast gets most of the rain and snow and west coast gets most of the fires.
