Yes, it’s the same old story hours and hours to set em up, and seconds to right em off!!!
Sorry to see that Toro, :( How did it happen?? You obviously had positive pitch when you first launched her but something must have broken do you have any idea what caused that? Good to read you are still OK about it, buy another and go again!!! Great :)
Cheers Ralph
Heres what makes the wound hurt that much more....
I was out in Tucson for the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout (big plank party), and I was flying it after hours... I think I had a battery let go on me, because it did almost the same thing on me. I didnt hit this hard though.... I just broke the gear on it last time. I went through repaired everything, upgraded batteries to the fromeco setup arizona reg, running the servos @ 5.5v, and switched all servos with exception of the collective to 9252. The collective was already a 9252. I thought I was golden. Tested the collective under a load (my hand holding pressure against the collective lever), and it didnt seem to fail, or slow, or even give a hint of failing. So I took it out today, I fueled and did some climb outs... everything OK.... flipped it inverted.... climb out like a rocket !.... Inverted backwards hurricanes..... no prob..... OK Lets go high and do a couple of tic tocs.... Got through about 5 cycles of tic toc, and when I went to pull out level.... FULL NEGATIVE TOWARD MOTHER EARTH @ 2000 mph !!! It happened so fast I had no chance even to try and flip it inverted, and hit hold. IT hit on a dirt road, and the resulting damage is that as you see it. SO heres what Im thinking.... Bad pot in the servo, (will send it in) potential bad Rx pot (will send that in) OR perhaps with the last crash, I damaged the gears just enough to hold under pressure, but throw some vibration in there ....and BLAMO !!! CHOP SUEY !! BROTHER !! I DONT KNOW.... Im already looking for another 50.... I know this ship inside and out, so I'm hesitant to try something new... Im planning on a 90 in Feb so who knows.... Ill be back soon !!!!

my buddy said it best... "If your gonna fly like a man, your gonna crash like a man" !

Man, those 9252's are scaring me now! That's what I'm running on my gasser! I'd hate to see what a CCPM bird would do if one went south! I've stripped a gear on one but replaced them all.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I'd sell ya my Raptor 50, but I love it too much!

what's with servos these days, when I flew planks, you rarely heard of a servo failing?
This is how I look at it...
I also fly big gas planks... 35-40% birds... If I dump one of those.... 4 large down the tube... If I dump a 50 size rappy..... 400 bucks for a new kit.... This is the first total I have ever had in about 2 years of helis.....
I've never had a prob with 9252's... The one I think failed is probably due to an oversite. I think the Tucson incident was from bad batt.... This one I think was possibly some of my fault also, due to over looking that one possible bad servo in the system.

True enough I guess, I just don't ever recall dumping a plane due to bad servo, it was usually a fault between the sticks and the wrists :D

I guess it can happen anywhere, anytime... With the new digitals in service now, it is just another link in the chain of things to go wrong....
GOOD news... TITAN will be in my hands by weekend... will be building quickly...
Gear will go to Futaba, and JR, and I'm going to go through everything, and probably buy a new Rx and Servo. I will keep the repairs for backups...

OUCH man sorry to hear about you're crash:( but on the other hand im glad to hear you got ya another one and will be back soon :)
Anyway i 've had something simular happen to me except it was an JR 8311 servo that caused it. The dang amp in the servo shorted and got hot and of corse quit working and zero'ed on me and met terra firma in a violent fashion. It didn't completely destory it but it came close cya guys (Nitro)

I run 9252's all around in one of my Raptors. Never had one fail.
I use 9252's on the cyclic and collective. 9253 (old rudder servo) on the throttle. and a 9254 on the tail.
My other Raptor, the 50V2, has 3151's on the cyclic, a 3152 on the collective (twice the torque, almost the same speed as a 3151, and the same price) along with a 9253 on the throttle, and 9254 on the tail.
Tdswan, the 9252's are good servo's. I would put them on my best machine anyday.
I'm in the market for a gasser. Maybe an ASI or Vario (still researching) or a Predator or Bergen. I have plenty of faith in them. Regular mainence, i.e. general inspection, cleaning pots, greasing gears, replacing motors... Goes a long, long way.
But you are right. On a CCPM setup, losing a servo would suck.
